What is The Modified Beauties?

Our Mission is to bring together modified women and support them whether its modeling, tattooing, piercing, photography or just wanting to be part of a family. To bring together women of all modifications and break stereotypes, change negative images and create a positive place for women to come together for support..

The Modified Beauties is an online community centered on Facebook's social media site for women over the age of 18 to follow exactly what's in the mission statement. They come together to share their love of modifications in an open minded and carefree environment. We've brought together girls from all over the globe into one location, and helped them connect with people they might not have met on their own. They become a family, a sisterhood so to speak 

So How did it all come about?  Let's start at the beginning shall we. In August of 2011 The Modified Beauties online community rose like a phoenix from he ashes of a similar styled group TWOM (The Women of Modified) when the community failed to thrive due to politics and drama beyond anyone's control. The idea behind starting a new community was to pull away from the reputation that TWOM had obtained for being run as a dictatorship, to create a place where the girls could feel free to speak up and be a part of something. 

The founders decided it was time to bring the feel of the sisterhood promised by TWOM and make it a reality. Instead of one person in charge they created an Administration group with shared interests and full cooperation. In fact the Admins, and the beginning members of The Modified Beauties all have roots from TWOM and understand what it was like to come from such a negatively charged group. 

There's no minimum modification required and even the definition of modified is broad for us. Dying your hair, tattoos, piercings, scarification even life style differences are all modifications to us. 

Our Membership is done by an application process and is open to women 18 years of age and older. (Link to the application). The application is filled out, and as we'd say the more detailed the better. It is then submitted to the Administrative group who goes through a voting process based on what the Applicant has included. We like them detailed because it is our first glance at potential new members. We want to get to know our members and see that they will fit in with our family. We would like to say that we aren't selective but the more we know about someone the better chance we will know how they will fit in. Our goal is always to strive to maintain a positive and drama free atmosphere and if we feel like the applicant won't fit that we might not accept them. Each applicant goes though the same unbiased process and a majority vote determines an invitation to join the community. 

If the application is accepted the new member gets added to our orientation group "Beauty School" Where they have up to two weeks to learn about the group, the divisions and all aspects of the community. We don't ask that they become proficient, but simply that they read and understand what we're about and be willing to uphold our Mission statement. 
Our admins may even take time while the new members are in Beauty School to talk to them and ask them questions about themselves. 

We also offer the members opportunities to voluntarily participate in different divisions, and chat groups associated with our group. We have the Muses/Goldens which consists of paid and aspiring models. We aren't the modeling agency for them, but we offer to show off their pictures for them, in a way to gain some notice and quite frankly who doesn't want to look at beautiful women in beautiful pictures, especially if they have modifications. It's art and we love to show off our girls. We have the Curvy Beauties as well, fuller figured girls who are beautiful and hold their head up high proclaiming to the world that they are perfect just the way they are. It boosts confidence and also showcases beauty that others don't always get to see. 

Becoming a Modified Beauty is entrance into a wonderful community and sisterhood. We recognize that each girl comes from different backgrounds and we don't judge. We've created sub-sections within the group to cater to the needs of the many, we offer holistic chats, advice groups, creative outlet space and even a place to just to chit chat and post pictures, allowing every member to get to know their sisters. Participation in the extra groups isn't mandatory and that allows the girls to feel at ease and come and go in those chat groups as they please. 

Another thing we try to do is hold contests and different group building exercises. They're fun, encourage a bit of healthy competition and make participation fun. We also encourage discussion of safe modification techniques, any other modification information and general discussion about every day life. 

We aren't a modeling agency, we aren't "Suicide Girls" or anything like that. We're just a group of like minded individuals who come together to support each other, break down barriers and social stigmas if we can and just find friendship. 

We are always looking to expand and bring in new members, so if you have a special friend in your life that fits our community her our way. We've been going strong for over a year and plan to continue to stay that way for many years to come.
